The Fresh Produce Exporters’ Forum (FPEF) is a voluntary, non-profit organisation with more than 160 members who must adhere to a strict Code of Conduct to ensure that only competent and reliable marketing agents, grower-exporters and other service providers are accepted as members of the Forum. FPEF members account for about 90% of fresh fruit exported from South Africa. Essentially a service organisation, some of the FPEF’s services include generic promotions in new and existing markets, the distribution of information to members and representation of the industry in relevant committees.

In addition, the FPEF manages the Post-Harvest Innovation (PHI) Programme. The PHI programme is a successful public-private partnership – focused on post-harvest research projects across a range of industries within the South African horticultural sector.
