Fruit industry workers encouraged to take the stage at Agri’s Got Talent 2026

Agricultural workers throughout South Africa’s fruit industry are being encouraged to step into the spotlight and showcase their musical talents by entering the upcoming Agri’s Got Talent 2026.

The popular competition honours the outstanding talent within South Africa’s agricultural workforce, giving farm and packhouse/cellar workers the chance to showcase their passion for music on a national stage. While the fruit industry is known for producing world-class export produce such as wine, citrus fruits, apples, pears, plums, peaches, apricots, nectarines, cherries, and table grapes, it is also home to many talented singers whose voices are usually only heard in orchards, packhouses, or on the way to work. Agri’s Got Talent 2026 aims to give those hidden stars a chance to shine.

Sponsored by Hortgro, CGA, SATI, SA Wine, and the Western Cape Department of Agriculture, organisers are urging workers across the fruit value chain—from orchards and nurseries to packhouses/cellars and logistics operations—to seize the opportunity and enter the competition.

“Every year we discover incredible voices in agriculture,” say organisers. “Many participants have never performed on a stage before. Agri’s Got Talent is about courage, joy and celebrating the people who make our agricultural industries strong.”

Participants do not need formal musical training to participate. All that is required is a passion for singing and the willingness to perform. From gospel and traditional music to pop and contemporary hits, singers are free to perform the music that best represents them.

The competition has become a highlight on the agricultural calendar, uniting workers, farming communities, and industry leaders to celebrate the people behind South Africa’s farms. For many contestants, the experience is life-changing — boosting confidence, forming friendships, and reminding the industry that talent develops in many ways on farms.

Fruit industry employers are also encouraged to support workers who wish to participate by helping them prepare for auditions and cheering them on along the way.

Agricultural workers in the following industries are encouraged to participate: fresh or dried deciduous fruits (apples, pears, peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries, apricots), table grapes, citrus fruits, and the wine industry.
